Terms of Service
Last updated: February 22, 2026
1. Agreement
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the LiteConsent cookie consent management service ("LiteConsent", "we", "us").
By creating an account or using the service, you agree to these Terms. If you are using LiteConsent on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have the authority to bind that organization to these Terms.
2. The service
LiteConsent provides a cookie consent management platform that includes:
- A JavaScript banner that displays cookie consent options to your website visitors
- Script blocking based on visitor consent choices
- Server-side consent logging stored in the EU
- A dashboard for banner configuration, analytics, and consent record management
- Region-aware consent to show banners only where legally required
LiteConsent is a technical tool. We do not provide legal advice. You are responsible for ensuring your overall data processing practices comply with applicable laws.
3. Accounts
You must provide a valid email address and create a password to use the service. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials.
One account per person or organization. You may invite team members according to your plan limits (Basic: 1, Pro: 3, Business: 10).
4. Free trial
New accounts receive a 14-day free trial with Pro-level access. No credit card is required to start a trial.
When the trial ends, your banner continues to work for a 7-day grace period. During this grace period, you cannot modify banner settings or add new sites. After the grace period, the banner stops displaying until you select a paid plan.
5. Plans and pricing
LiteConsent offers three plans: Basic, Pro, and Business. Current pricing and feature details are available at /pricing.
Prices are in euros (EUR). All billing is handled by Paddle, our Merchant of Record, which collects VAT where applicable based on your location.
You may upgrade your plan at any time (applied immediately). Downgrades take effect at the end of your current billing cycle. Annual plans are billed upfront for 12 months at a discounted rate (equivalent to 10 months).
6. Plan limits
Each plan includes limits on the number of domains, monthly consents, team members, and consent log retention. A consent is counted when a visitor saves a new consent choice that changes their current consent settings. Repeat visits and repeated clicks that do not change the saved choice are not counted.
We will never disable your banner without warning. If you exceed your consent limit, we will notify you by email. If you consistently exceed your limit (200%+), we may auto-upgrade your plan to the next tier after a 7-day written notice, provided a payment method is on file.
7. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use the service for any unlawful purpose
- Attempt to circumvent plan limits through technical means
- Reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble the service
- Use automated means to generate fake consent records
- Resell or redistribute the service without a Business plan
- Interfere with the service's infrastructure or other users
8. Data processing
When we process personal data on your behalf (specifically, consent records from your website visitors), we act as a data processor under GDPR Article 28. You act as the data controller.
By using the service, you accept our Data Processing Agreement (DPA), which forms part of these Terms.
9. Availability and support
We aim to maintain 99.9% uptime for the consent API and CDN endpoints. Scheduled maintenance will be announced in advance. Service status is available at /status.
All plans include email support. Business plans include priority support with faster response times.
10. Intellectual property
We own all rights to the LiteConsent service, brand, and code. You retain ownership of your banner configurations, custom CSS, and translations.
The banner displays a small "Cookie consent by LiteConsent" link. This branding must not be removed or hidden.
11. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, LiteConsent's total liability for any claims arising from the service is limited to the fees you paid in the 12 months preceding the claim.
We are not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages, including loss of profits, data, or business opportunities. We are not liable for any regulatory fines imposed on you.
12. Termination
You may cancel your account at any time from the dashboard. Upon cancellation:
- Your banner stops displaying immediately
- Your consent records are available for export for 30 days
- Your account and all associated data are permanently deleted after 30 days
We may terminate your account for material breach of these Terms, with 14 days written notice to cure (except for security issues, where immediate termination may apply).
13. Refund policy
We offer a full refund within 30 days of your initial purchase, no questions asked. To request a refund, contact us at [email protected].
Refunds for annual plans are prorated based on the unused portion of the subscription period. If your subscription renewed and you forgot to cancel, contact us within 14 days of the renewal date for a full refund of that charge.
All refunds are processed by Paddle, our Merchant of Record, and returned to the original payment method. Processing typically takes 5 to 10 business days.
14. Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by email at least 30 days before they take effect. Continued use of the service after the changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
15. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England & Wales. Any disputes will be resolved in the courts of England & Wales, except where EU consumer protection law provides otherwise.
