Languages
LiteConsent supports 40+ languages for your consent banner. You can configure how the visitor's language is detected and manage translations in the dashboard.
Language detection modes
| Mode | How it works |
|---|---|
| Auto | Uses the browser's language preferences (navigator.languages) to detect the visitor's preferred language. Priority: data-lc-language attribute > HTML lang attribute > browser language > fallback language. |
| Page | Reads the language from the page. Priority: data-lc-language attribute > HTML lang attribute > fallback language. Does not use browser language preferences. |
| Fixed | Always show the banner in a specific language you choose. Requires a paid plan for auto and page modes. |
Auto and page modes require a paid plan. Free plans are limited to fixed mode.
Managing translations
In the Languages tab of your site configuration, you can add new languages and edit every string that appears in the banner: title, description, button labels, preferences panel text, and jurisdiction-specific strings.
AI-powered translation
When you add a new language, LiteConsent can automatically translate all banner strings from your default language using AI. Translations are generated in seconds and you can review and edit them before publishing.
AI translation is available on all paid plans. The translations are optimized for cookie consent terminology and natural-sounding copy.
